Are you connected to your true self?
Jan 25, 2021Are you connected to your true self? Probably not, at least not in the deep sustaining way that brings us health, happiness and well being and allows us to walk around our days with a deep sense of fulfillment.
For the vast majority of people, they are in some way disconnected from themselves, from fear, perhaps from jealously, from doubt and for some by self-loathing. Each of these things is a form of shame, shame separates us from our true selves.
Brene Brown is one of the most well known writers on shame, she says shame is about discharging blame. That is blaming others, blaming our circumstance, blaming the alignment of the planets, blaming just about anything that is possible to blame, instead of stepping up to take bold personal responsibility for our own thoughts, feelings and ultimately lives.
It is a tricky situation when you are deep in fear and blame. It feels like nothing you do makes a difference. It feels like everyone else’s lives are progressing beautifully but not yours.
If we can understand that the physical symptoms we get of pain are a way of our bodies telling us how disconnected we are with ourselves, it allows us to listen to our body and to understand some of the changes that we need to make in our world.
Going through the journey of learning to move from self-loathing, to self-acceptance to self-compassion and ultimately to self-love is the most valuable journey we could ever walk. Being truly connected to the internal wisdom of who we are allows us to fine tune our decisions and our movements daily, so we ultimately experience more joy, more happiness and more deep satisfaction on a daily basis.
